Left back Moses Kalanzi is expected to fill in at left-back.
If anyone had doubts that KCCA FC would not attempt to make a splash domestically and on the continent in the new season, those doubts have to be put to bed. This follows the signing of left-back Moses Kalanzi from Danish side Jammerbugt FC. Kalanzi will be expected to fill the void left by Mustafa Kizza who joined Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact. “I’m here to lift the team from one step to another, win trophies, compete in different tournaments, and be ready to take on any challenges. KCCA is one the biggest club in CECAFA region and their style of play fits mine. It’s a big club with big ambitions and I’m ready to try and fulfill them with my teammates,” stated Kalanzi.
The 23-year-old returns to the domestic scene having featured for Express FC in 2007 as a junior player. He also played for Uganda’s U17 team and was also part of the U23 national team that took part in the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique. Coach Mike Mutebi believes Kalanzi will add a lot to his team as KCCA goes in search of its 14th league title. “His addition is going to give us variety in the team. Unlike last season when we suffered after some of our best players got injured, their replacements were not up to the task. But now in every position we have three players competing and every player is equally good,” noted Mutebi.
